The first steps to improving your bad breath are to realize that you have it. It is hard to tell yourself if you have a problem with breath odor. You can ask a close friend or spouse to check your breath or check it yourself. Scrape your tongue with a spoon. Allow the film on the spoon to dry and sniff. If it smells, you have bad breath.
